THE HALLS ARE ALIVE WITH THE SOUND OF MUSIC!
Our classrooms are filled with melody and laughter as we launch our final theme- learning of the summer. For the next two weeks, the students will be exploring music, rhythm, tempo, beat, and how music is used in different cultures and communities. The children will be making instruments, experimenting with sound, and exploring all things melodic! We’ll celebrate with a mini-concert for the children on Thursday, 8/9 at 10:00 in the Fellowship Hall. Parents are welcome to join us if you’re able!
THE CDC IS CLOSED THURSDAY, 8/16 AND FRIDAY 8/17!
As a reminder, the CDC will be closed on Thursday, 8/16 and Friday, 8/17 for Teacher In-service Days. The teachers will be busy working in their classrooms and prepping for the new school year!
THE NEW YEAR IS UPON US!
It’s hard to believe, but summer is almost over! Our students will be “stepping up” to their new classrooms on Monday, 8/20. Please help us celebrate the new school year by joining us for our Ice Cream Social on Sunday, 8/19 at 4:00. You’ll receive an e-mail regarding your child’s placement and new teachers on Monday, 8/13!
Prior to the beginning of the new school year, we will conduct a series of quick parent meetings to dot some i’s and cross some t’s. Please make plans to join us in the Fellowship Hall for one of the following meetings: Monday, 8/13 at 2:15 p.m., Tuesday, 8/14 at 7:30 a.m. or Wednesday, 8/15 at 6:00 p.m. One of the orders of business will be to review your student’s paperwork for the new school year. If your child is currently enrolled, we will have folders for you to review. Alternatively, you may complete and print new paperwork which will be sent digitally early next week. IMPORTANT: STUDENTS MUST HAVE AN UP TO DATE IMMUNIZATION FORM BEFORE THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! Our goal is to have all the student paperwork completed and turned in by the end of these meetings.
Want to be involved in your child’s preschool? Join the SUNSHINE COMMITTEE! The sunshine committee provides small treats and surprises to the teachers throughout the year. It’s an easy way to show your child’s teacher how much they mean to you. If interested, please e-mail Lauren Robinson at email@example.com. The Sunshine Committee will be providing a light breakfast for the teachers on Thursday, 8/16. Please let Lauren know if you can help with that, too! Thank you!!
August tuition will be billed on Wednesday, 8/1 and due on Wednesday, 8/15. This month will look “wonky” for many families as we pro-rate tuition rates and add/decrease days that your students will be with us. Please check your invoice carefully and let us know if you have any questions. As always, please make your checks payable to “FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH”
SAVE THE DATE!!!
On Tuesday, 9/11 from 5 – 7 p.m., we’ll have our first ever BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT where parents will tour their children’s classrooms, chat with teachers and other families, explore the CDC and learn more about the enrichment opportunities for the 2018 – 2019 school year. More details coming soon, but please mark your calendars!
BLESSINGS OF THE BACKPACKS
All CDC families are invited to join in worship with FUMC. On Sunday, August 5th, the church will be blessing backpacks as students start a new school year. We’d love to see CDC kiddos and backpacks at the 10:45 service!! BYOB (BRING YOUR OWN BACKPACK!)
The FUMC Children’s Ministry is also starting a new children’s Sunday School with an adult class using a parallel lesson focus. FUMC children’s director, Mardee Miller, will lead the children using the What’s In the Bible? DVD series, while adults will look at the same topic each week (but in a more mature fashion!). Questions? Contact Mardee Miller at firstname.lastname@example.org ALL ARE WELCOME!
