Holiday Missions at First Church

Salvation Army Bell Ringing
Get in the Christmas spirit by ringing bells for the Salvation Army Fund.  FUMC will be ringing at the Kroger Plaza on Kingston Pike from 10 to 6 on Tuesday, Dec. 6th - Friday, Dec. 9th.  Two person teams are needed to cover 2-hour blocks on those dates.  Sign-up sheets will be in the narthex Sunday after church, or call Jim and Donna Bletner (523-9150) to join this team of seasonal "musicians." No experience necessary!

Mobile Meals Christmas Gifts
Once again, First Church is collecting Christmas Sacks for Mobile Meals recipients. Please don't include glass, food items or candles. Mark your sack male or female. Suggested items are puzzles, toothbrushes and toothpaste, pens, markers, word search or crossword books, socks, towels, wash cloths, flashlights, large print books or magazines, clocks or large faced watches, lip balm, small sized lotions, shampoo, or powder. We are asked not to include religious items. Please return your sack by Dec. 4th to the Narthex or Parish House library.

Donate toys, clothing, electronics, sports equipment, etc. easily through or  See signs in Narthex and Parish House. Or you Donate directly through box in Narthex.  Volunteer to help setup Christmas Store during week of December 12.  Or Christmas Store operation on December 16.  Signup sheets will be circulated. Call Lynn Morehous (691-521) for questions.

Salvation Army Angel Tree
The Salvation Army Angel Tree is now in the Narthex!  Select as many angels as you like from the tree, then write your name, phone number and the angel code on the sheet so we will know which angels you selected. Then take a big bag for each angel. You will return the Unwrapped angels BY Sunday, December 4th. You can leave them in the Narthex or in the sunroom. 


Costa Rica Mission Trip

We are planning a mission trip to Costa Rica June 3 - 10, 2017. Our focus will be on the children of central Costa Rica about 20 miles outside of San Jose. This trip is a part of our partnership with the Wesley Foundation at UTK and students will be joining us.

Opportunities for Service and Fellowship

United Methodist Women
Meeting monthly for study, service projects, and lunch, the UMW actively seeks opportunities to serve within the church and community.

Parish House Team
Charged with preservation of the Hugh Sanford home located on the property of FUMC, the Parish House team provides leadership in the maintenance of the grounds as well as the exterior and interior of the building. Various fund-raising efforts support the building used to house Sunday School classes and offices.

Worship Team
Preparing for worship at both the traditional service at 10:45 and the evening Praise service, the Worship Team relies on the services of ushers, greeters, lift assistants, technology providers, choir, and Altar Guild.

Music Ministry
Providing music for worship and celebration, the Music Ministry includes Chancel Choir, Handbells, Praise & Worship Band, Instrumentalists, Soloists.

Book and Bible Studies
We offer several book and Bible studies throughout the year. 

Sewing Ministry
Our Sewing Ministry meets monthly working on items for a variety of mission projects. 

Adventure Club
